Summoning the Human Spirit to its Best Self

Healthy Water Campaign

Clean water is essential for health and yet too many people the world over lack this fundamental necessity.

Our current water project in Sierra Leone -- building a water well for the Rokupa Hospital -- is Dr. Turray´s dream. Dr. Turray, who is a parent of a LemonAid Village child, works at this hospital and serves some of the poorest community members, including many children and women in our schools and around Freetown. One of the main hindrances to his helping the patients at Rokupa is the lack of running water. This means there is no water when a woman is delivering her baby or for a nurse after examining an AIDS patient. There is no water for washing the floors and beds, cleaning medical equipment or for the patients to drink.

Through your help LemonAid Fund will be able to provide a well that will allow the hospital to have access to water anytime during day and night. This will be accomplished through digging a deeper well and a simple pump system. The cost to do this is $6000.00 and its implementation will have a significant effect on the health and sanitation of the patients at the hospital and will save a great many lives. LemonAid Fund is now partnering with Living Water International Sierra Leone (http://www.water.cc/) for the pump syste, and with financial support from Donohue& Associates Inc. (http://www.Donohue-associates.com) and Memorial gifts in Carol Peddle's name we are making Dr. Turray´s dream a reality during the 2009 dry season.
