Easy Ways to Support LemonAid Fund
We want to let you know a little bit about the people who have taken action on their own behalf because of LemonAid Fund and turned the "lemons" in their own lives into "lemonade".  In 2008, LemonAid Fund would like to support more individuals in their creating more than they imagined through support made possible from people like you!

Frances Browne of Sierra Leone

You may ask why LemonAid Fund has such a focus on Sierra Leone. in 1996 Nancy Peddle, LemonAid Fund's founder, was working in the war-torn country and experienced the trauma of the Bloody Coup, a war which Blood Diamond the 2006 movie depicts with a great deal of accuracy.  That experience created the seed for starting LemonAid Fund.  After the devastation, she saw that with just a little support people's lives could be positively affected.  In the ten years since the Coup, things have improved in Sierra Leone.  The war has ended and the country has moved from the poorest country in the world to the 6th poorest country (average $200 per year salary), but there is still work to be done.  Sierra Leone remains the number 1 ranked country for the most deaths of children under 5 (UNICEF's The State of the World's Children 2007) and most children still do not go to school. Frances Browne, our Sierra Leone liaison, has picked up many of the pieces for children. She loves children and works tirelessly to improve their lives.  With a little support from LemonAid Fund she has rebuilt two schools and is working on a third.  She supports a network of schools with learning materials and quality supervision and she started a micro-loan program for the parents and community members with the help of LemonAid Fund.

Frances says about LemonAid Fund, Thank you for being people from one of the greatest countries in the world, who are helping and caring for children who you don’t know, but for the love of God. Building Up the Children is changing lives and making the difference in our country, Sierra Leone, especially after the war.”

W

e aid in projects and programs that contribute to the education and health as well as the social, economic and cultural development of children, families and communities.

We look for inspired ideas and actions and innovative practices with evidence of effective results supported by grass-roots involvement.

We join with individuals, communities and organizations to support ideas that are chosen, designed, implemented and evaluated with the participation of those who will primarily benefit from those actions.
